How goes your gardening?

Sorry sorry sorry! I'll answer above too, but so far I haven't really done anything. We cant' do much until our patio is redone, which hasn't been started yet because we're still waiting on the tax credit, but hopefully soon! I'm still just starting seeds in my windowsills, but I keep buying more and more plants and seeds. We'll see which ones actually grow I do still have mystery bulbs in my backyard that I can't figure out. The greenery came up really early, but no blooms yet, so I'm starting to think they're lilies that just sprouted early. I hope so, I love lilies. What about you guys? Amoro do you garden? I would want to try to grow grapes just because, but I'm assuming those would not be easy in an apartment.

I get literally zero sunlight in my apartment, so not right now, but the new place has great light and a wonderful balcony so I'm hoping to do some herbs and flowers.  WEE!

I am impressed that you're doing sill starting.

I won't be after this year. H keeps knocking them off the sill because he's a huge clumsy oaf, and I still have less than half that have actually sprouted. Next year I'm buying seedlings.

I actually bought a grape vine, but I'm glad you said that Nebb, because now I dont' think I'm going to grow it in my actual veggie garden so it doesn't take over. I'll plant it some where else.

I also just tried to start a strawberry pot (one of the kits from target, I'm lazy), but my dog keeps trying to eat the strawberry plants before they even grow. I think I'm going to have to invest in some tall plant stands because of this pupper dog.

Nebb, any recommendations on types of carrots or radishes to grow? I went to the store to get seeds and was overwhelmed by the varieties!

Ive got nothing on root vegetables, im not that brave. My friends mother tried planting carrots here and she said the ground wasnt good for carrots or something and they were all stunted because they couldnt grow downwards. Im a tomatoe, herb, cucumber, bean and zucchini girl myself. I may or may not do peppers too.

You should see the way they grow apples and cherries here.  Because the land is so hotly contested, they basically cut them sideways, so the trees are thin.  They can sprout up, but not out.  It's really crazy looking.

I'm wondering how my wildflower patch that I threw out before we left is coming along.  Hm.

I'm going to do tomatoes and peppers too I think I'm going to find out that my balcony garden has not prepared me for a real one, but it will still be fun.

I still stick by my opinion that gardening isnt really that hard, it just takes a lot of work getting it into the ground in the beginning and then picking at crap here and there and keeping it watered. Remember to pluck off your suckers from the tomatoe plants or they wont grow properly (it sucks off nutrients to the fruit to grow the extra limbs), that and a bit of weeding is the extent of the maintenence I put into my garden most of the summer.

Sounds good to me. I need to buy a book and start identifying the things currently in the yard. I have some sort of flowering apple tree, a really pretty bright red tree, I think Irises and I could have sworn I saw strawberry plants.
