BFF's Bach. Party Q's:

Hi Ladies - I used to post on here every day when I was getting married (gawd, it seems like SO LONG AGO!) so I thought I'd come back here for some help. (I also XP'd in ChitChat)

My BFF is marrying my BIL (how cool is that!), and I am her MOH. She isn't really the drinking type, but does like to dance. So, for her bach party, I was thinking about doing pole dancing lessons, then going back to my place and having a male stripper come (haha!! They are SO FUNNY!) and then heading in to the city for dancing. Is that too much in one day? Also, do you know how much strippers charge for like, an hour?

Re: BFF's Bach. Party Q's:

  • Ew, male strippers are gross, I have no idea.

  • I don't think that's too much in one day but it's definitely not my style or my idea of a fun time.  Is this something SHE will enjoy?  That's all that really matters.

  • I would probably run that past her to see if she'd like that. I wouldn't mind the pole dancing lessons or the dancing, but a male stripper would not be my cup of tea. The was my one request, in fact. NO MALE STRIPPERS!!

How about a pole dancing class, a nice dinner, then a night on the town?

I'd even go a bit further and ask if this is something she AND the other guests will enjoy.  My Bach party is this weekend in Vegas and there has unfortunately been a bit of drama that I've been looped in on because some of the guests felt uncomfortable with the activities the MOHs were planning (and the cost, but that's a whole other issue) but didn't feel comfortable speaking to them directly about it.  I'm sure the bride will want to have a Bach party that she and all of her guests will enjoy, so unless everyone in her circle LOVES stripping-related activities the pole dancing/ male stripper combo may be a bit too much.
  • Male strippers are beyond gross. Ick.

  • Call some strippers and find out what they cost.  My friend's b-party had one a couple of years ago.  I think it was about $300.

But talk to your friend about this before you do anything.  A lot of people are uncomfortable with strippers coming to you, even though they are totally fine with going to strip clubs.

Also, I don't think it's too much to do, but it will get expensive for you to do all that.  I can also see people getting back to the house to watch the stripper, having several drinks, and then not making it back out to the clubs.
  • Not quite my cup of tea either, but I know this is EXACTLY what she wants. She will be totally thrilled. As for the other guests, I know the other 'maids agree that she will love it so they're down. Male strippers are kind of funny, IMO - I only saw one once but it was hysterical. Believe me, if I had my way it would be a different party all together, but since it's her day, I am planning a party I know she will love. My primary concern at this point is whether or not it will be too much in one day ...
  • I can't imagine doing any of those things sober, so if she's not the drinking type I'd REALLY think twice.

    You should hire this stripper:

  • Well, if your crowd would enjoy that, then I say go for it. I have no idea how much a male stripper would be. Maybe you could just go to a strip club and not have to pay for one to come to y'all. Then y'all could leave there and go dancing. I don't think all those activities are too much, but I'd build in some rest/eating times.

Ha! Do you have his #?

But seriously ladies - this is pretty much exactly what she's asked for ... I hear you that it's not YOUR cup of tea but if it is her's then it's kind of what I'm going to do for her, y'know?
  • ew yeah male strippers. not funny, disgusting.  We just had a discussion about this while shopping for bridesmaid dresses for my friend's wedding. She wants to do pole dancing and dinner/drinks. The MOH & I might sit out the pole dancing and just drink wine while they're doing all that. But myfriend was adamant about no male strippers.  Basically, while there are rules about not touching female strippers, male strippers are permitted to grab you, flip you upside down and grind on you without asking you if you want to participate in such things. Gross and gross.
