Gifts for readers?

Hey everyone,
What is the etiquette on buying gifts for the readers, program distributers, etc? We're inviting them to the rehearsal dinner and I'm not sure if it's etiquette to give them something as well.
Thanks!

Re: Gifts for readers?

  • Just get the readers a small gift you know they'd enjoy.

Why are you having "program distributors"?
  • We gave our readers bottles of wine.
  • We just did something small.  A little box of Godiva chocolates and a gift certificate to B&N (get it, bc they're readers...okay it was lame)

  • Heh.  I was going to suggest a gift card to a bookstore, but you dont' mean THAT kind of reader.

  • I would get them a copy of the Academy Award nominated film, The Reader.

Moose - that's what I thought when I opened the thread and I was hoping to get some good ideas in addition to "borders gift card" and "dinky light that clips onto a book."  Dang.
  • Me too, Moose and ohwhynot.  I love those book light clips!  They always die way sooner than they are supposed to though.

  • Heh.  Books are my favorite gifts, but I'll read pretty much ANYTHING (except Twilight).  I've read some real dogs, to be honest.

  • andyandhillary- I don't think you'll be disappointed.  I was very against Twilight, and my sister was absolutely in love with it.  I swore I'd never read it, but at the beach this year, I finished my book quickly and didn't want to buy another, so I borrowed hers.  I couldn't put it down.  They are really big books and I finished the first one in a day.  You'll get hooked :-)
