not sure how to word this....

I am trying to think of how to word the invites to the wedding....My FI's parents arent together and havent been for years... I usually see both set of parents Mr & Mrs is requesting your presence in honor of ....etc but can you still do so if they arent together? they both still carry the same last name

Re: not sure how to word this....

  • Mr. John Doe and Mrs. Jane Smith
  • Mr. and Mrs. Bride Dad Last
    Ms. Groom Mom Last
    Mr. Groom Dad Last

request the pleasure of your company

    blah, blah, blah. . .

They go on separate lines and are not joined with AND.  To do otherwise would indicate that they are married.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • You don't HAVE to put their names on the invitation. Google "wedding invitation wording" and you'll get lots of examples. Some people will put "Together with their families/parents" or some other wording.

    thanks! i like that idea
  • thanks ladies....everyone was so helpful
  • I had a similar situation with step parents, etc. and used "Together with their families..." since that would include everyone closest to us, and not specifically single out our parents.
