Thank you note question

Just got a wedding gift in the mail with a card that reads, "This is only part of your gift--the other half was backordered and should be on its way soon!" The gift that just arrived is a bedspread, and per the card, the other "half" of the gift is a set of matching pillow shams. Do I send a thank you note now or wait until the rest of the gift arrives?

Re: Thank you note question

  • I would send the TY note now. Definitely thank them for the gift you got but I would also mention the gift that is back-ordered. If it was me and especially if it took awhile to come in, I might send a second TY note when I received the back-ordered pillow shams so that way the person knows they came in. Not sure if you have to do that part, but I probably would. Just something like, "The pillow shams came in and they're lovely! Thank you again for the generous gifts."

  • Send the TY now.

    "Dear Joe,
Thank you so much for the beautiful bedspread! I absolutely love it. I can't wait to get the pillow shams. We look forward to seeing you at the wedding!
    Love,

I wouldn't send a second thank you note for the shams when you get them though. Just call/text/email/fb message something to the effect of  "Just got the shams today! Thanks again - I love them so much!"
  • Thanks for the responses! I'll send the thank you note out now.
