so i'm looking for a gift for my FMIL who is throwing a joint shower with my mom.

( my mom already sent me a facebook message telling me how many bottles of her specific brand of wine to buy for her hostess gift * le sigh* )

is there a traditional gift for someone who isn't certifiably insane and you wish was you bio mom sometimes? what do most people get? does it need to be personalized?

You could send flowers, bring wine, or just get her a nice something you think she'd appreciate.  If it was her birthday, what would you get?

It doesn't have to be personalized...it's nice if you can give something you know they'll actually use. I'd have loved to have given MIL a gc for a manipedi but she doesn't do stuff like that. I ended up getting her a vintage planter in decor she would like she's big on country, ducks, geese etc and I had it filled with flowers she would like. SIL is a baseball mom, very domesticated and always participating in potlucks.
