Bridesmaids gift question

Would it be acceptable to offer having the girls hair professionally done for the wedding as their gift in addition to some other small undetermined gift? Several of the girls have mentioned wishing they could afford to get their hair done.

<div>Yes, definitely. If you can afford it, I'm sure they would really appreciate it. </div>
  • The only thing I would be careful about is being absolutely sure they would really like to get their hair done as a gift.  I can't tell, since I haven't heard your BMs talking, but it be that they are just saying, "Oh, I wish I could get my hair done with you but can't afford it" to be nice.
  • Since I cannot do hair to save my life, I pretty much have to get my hair done for any special event.  Thank God I now have a hairdresser SIL!  So, yes, I would be stoked that you wanted to pay for me to get my hair done.
  • It depends on your group.  In my social circle our BM gifts have always been things for the wedding to save the BMs money.  Actually I had never heard of people buying non-wedding gifts until coming here.  They had all opted to get their hair and makeup done with me at the salon (most of them went there anyways) so part of their gift was gift cards to the salon that they could use.  If you think its what your friends really want and would be happy with, go for it.  Like I said though, it just depends on your group.

  • Thanks for the imput. I'm glad I don't seem to have been totally out of line. I was intending to talk to each of them individually and ask if it was really something they wanted. they mentioned it when I went with them to try on bridesmaids dresses. They're picking their own dresses so I've been going with them individually and making a girls day of it.
