Aw, I'm having a homesick day.

I brought it on myself by looking at photos of our house when it was furnished.  Then I started thinking about how happy we were, and how independent I was and our friends and family.  Now I'm getting a little sloppy.

Can you Skype some folks from home just to touch base a bit?

Amoro, I'm sorry   I can't even imagine how hard it is to be that far away from everyone, no matter how exciting and adventurous your life looks to everyone else.  Definitely get out and do something fun if you can, sitting around the house always makes me feel worse.

OWN, you're the sweetest person alive.

I could call home.  I just don't like to when I'm crying because they'll notice and think something's wrong.  I'm sure it doesn't help that it's a dreary, cold, rainy day here.  It's just every so often I go through this.  It's hard to give up your independence the way I've had to.  That's really what I miss most.  Having my own car, and my job and my own money...

Amoro, you know I feel you. For the most part, I like our life here, but there are definitely days - especially gross, dreary days - when it seems like everything in Chile is bad and everything in the US would be so wonderful. For me, I just kind of have to ride out those days. Obviously doing something fun or eating something yummy helps, but in general I've found that it's just a random feeling, like any bad mood, and if I can make it through the day then I'll probably wake up the next day feeling just fine again. But I'm sorry today is one of those days.

Amoro, I'm sorry you're having a bad day. I agree with OWN -- wallow in it for a while. When I'm bummed out I will actually throw on a movie that I know will make me cry. Then when I'm done, I do something I know will make me happy...like scrapbooking, chatting online, making brownies -- anything. And then I treat myself to a rum and coke, lol
