San Diego-ians or people who visit SD

I have a question for you.

I'm visiting next week and looking into going to Silver Strand Beach, what are your thoughts?

Reviews are good for the beach but they all say locals hate visitors.  Why am I imagining people chasing me with pitchforks?

  • This is going to be a post and run, I was just informed we're going out to dinner.  I'll be back tonight :)

  • If you are a tourist I suggest you go to La Jolla. You can go to La Jolla Shores for that lay out on the sand and swim thing, and then travel to downtown La Jolla and go to the cove. I believe the Silver Strand is in the Coronado area and it's just more secluded there, but Coronado is a great place to visit as well. If you like the party scene, check out Pacific Beach.
  • I second La Jolla, used to swim there as a kid.

We used to watch fireworks from Silver Strand on 4th of July, but there were sand fleas the few times we went. But Coronado has other nice beaches too on the other side of the island, by Hotel Del.
  • Cool.  That was the other beach I was actually looking at.

I liked the idea of Silver Strand bc it was more secluded.  I can change plans, though.

  • I'll be in San Diego next week also. I would suggest the beach closer to Hotel Del

  • Haha, yep.  My SO wanted to go all 4 days this year. Are you going or are just going to San Diego/Coronado for other things?

  • We will be at CC on Friday only.  We bought our tickets in Dec. and that's all we could get.  How early did you get your tickets?

Honestly though, I don't know if I could handle four days of CC.  I am sure I will love it but my head might explode.  We'll be there for about a week, and then we're also going to spend a few days in Scottsdale to visit some family.

  • I think we got ours in October. We didn't get the 4 day pass with the preview night because it was already sold out. When we are there this year, we are going to preorder them for next year.
Recently, I think it was a couple weeks ago, they were selling some 4 days passes that people returned. They are sold out already though.
Anything in particular you are excited for on Friday at CC?
After CC we are going to Laguna to visit his grandma and hang out there for a day or two and then we will be back in AZ.

  • I'm really looking forward to the costume designers about TV Production, the Caprica speakers, there will be a sneak peak for the Old Republic, and the sneak peek for The Cape will be cool.  The Joss Wheaton session will be cool too.

So much, that I want to see, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head.  What about you?

  • The main things we will be trying to see on friday will The Big Bang Theory, Spotlight on Stan Lee, Spartacus, and True Blood. We have a couple a couple alternate things(one of them being Spider-man shattered dimensions).
