my current indulgence

My parents brought me (well, us) back a box of Luxemburgerli. Tell me I can't eat the whole box tonight. So far I've tried a caramel, a raspberry, a vanilla, a lemon, and a pistachio one. I'm about to go back through the flavors because I can't decide which ones are my favorite.

    That's what I was thinking, Shelley :)

I am quite positive they're delicious, whatever they are.
  • From the Wiki:
Similar to a small French macaron, they consist of a sugar-based biscuit top and bottom with a rich cream filling in the center; unlike the macaron, the Luxemburgerli is lighter and more airy in consistency. Each biscuit is about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter.

They are little bitty bite-sized bits of heaven! The outside is slightly crisp, the inside of the cookie part is just a bit chewy, and they are filled with either chocolate ganache or this stuff that is a cross between an Italian buttercream and mousse.

  • They look like delicious oddly colored hamburgers :) I want one...
  • The Wiki description doesn't do them justice. There are 23 left in the box. The insert says they should be enjoyed immediately. Remind me that I will be sick if I eat the entire box tonight.

Welll that sounds fantastic to me!

Better than that creepy rainbow cake.
  • Meaghan! Cute picture! Took me awhile to realize it was you!

  • aw thanks fish! I feel like I had my other one up forever so it is a big change :) We got pics taken over the weekend so I am very excited about them.
  • Dont' eat them at all once or they will be gone and you can't eat anymore!!!
  • OMG. LOVE.

Macarons and I have a rocky relationship. I try to make those beautiful little Frenchies at least once a month, and the perfect macaron still eludes me. Sigh.

You and me both. To put it into perspective, they are made by Sprungli. Sprungli is the parent company of Lindt (the chocolate), and everything made under the Sprungli name (that I have tried so far) is better than the stuff under the Lindt name. But they don't export it. Fuuckers.
  • Sara - you'll be sick if you eat the whole box tonight.  So, in the morning, take it to the post office and mail it to ME.  I'll save you the trouble.

  • Squirrly, you are exactly right that the whole box would make me sick. Nevermind the fact that the other 3 people who live in this house would kick my ass if I ate them all. I'll run the post office idea past my daughters. ;-)
