Not ettiquette related but want opinions of the married ladies!

I am getting married Sunday Sept 16 and leaving Thursday evening for Italy.  The bummer will be going to work Tuesday and Wednesday.

We're waiting about a month because FI needs to take law school exams, and I don't want to be away from work 2 weeks in a row.  At first I was sort of bummed but now I'm looking forward to not having to rush.  I plan to get all the thank yous written while FI is doing exams so I can fully relax on our trip.  I know I wouldn't be able to really unwind until all of those are out of the way.

We got married Saturday evening and left for our honeymoon on Sunday afternoon, after brunch with my OOT family.  They left for the airport and we left for the coast.

That said, we honeymooned just a 2 hour car ride from home.  We were given the advice to go someplace where we could just relax and not feel like we had to play tourist because we'd spent so much money and it was a place we'd never get to again, etc.  We were so glad we followed that advice.  We were exhausted and having the time to just chill was awesome.

We got married on a Wed and left for our honeymoon on Friday morning and came back home th following Tuesday. I would never have opted to leave earlier, lol- as it was, we only had to pack for two days when it came to the wedding itself and we did terribly! I forgot to pack a pair of shorts (as I wore a dress to the rehearsal) and he forgot to pack an extra shirt (just a sleep shirt.) I wound up wearing a pair of my husband's basketball shorts to the salon; thank god for the elastic waistband! I woke up with a cold the day after our wedding but still enjoyed our honeymoon (NY state road trip.) I'm glad we took it when we did and I'm glad we made it a relatively lowkey kind of honeymoon because, having never taken a vacation together in five years, any sort of trip was going to be pretty special- and we were married on top of it!
