Missing Responses

Happy Friday! So glad for this holiday weekend.

My responses were all due back today and I am missing TONS of them still. My caterer really needs a headcount soon. What is the best way to handle this and who should do the calling to ask people?

Re: Missing Responses

  • When is the exact day that your caterer needs the final headcount by?  If you still have some time, I would wait a couple of days and then start calling people.
  • If any of them are people you see/talk to on a regular basis, you can start mentioning now "hey, I haven't received your RSVP, is it in the mail?"  Start formally calling people on Tuesday evening (after Tuesday's mail has come), or if that's cutting it too close then make the calls on Sunday.  Since you have a lot, you can split up the list by who knows the person best.  Your mom can call her family, FMIL can call her family, FI can call his friends, etc.

  • If they were first due back today then I would definitely give it another couple of days. It's a holiday weekend, so as a pp mentioned, you will probably get a bunch on Tuesday. There are always some last minute people... and others who think the RSVP date is the mail date. How many are you missing?

  • Thanks for all the responses! I wasn't sure if I should wait a few days after today so I will definitely wait until after mail comes on Tuesday to see where we are at. I am still waiting on 84 people to respond so I really need to know.
  • Wow!!! 84 is a lot! Definitely give it another couple of days. You will probably get a bunch all at once after the holiday weekend. Good luck!!!

  • I think you  may have set your response date too early.  One month in advance is a bit too far from the wedding and that seems to open the door for people saying that they don't know.

Wait until after the holiday weekend and then start the calls.
  • Definitely wait until after the weekend so the mail catches up from the holiday weekend. Most caterers need a 2 week notice, so if you allowed enough time for your rsvp's, you should have plenty of time to start tracking people down.
