A plus one

A very good friend of mine is dating a guy that I do not like. Is it necessary to invite him to the wedding also? They have been dating for ~2.5 years but are not engaged.

Re: A plus one

  • Yes. Two and a half years is an established relationship and they are considered a social unit.

  • Yup, you need to invite him. Clearly, they're long term, whether you like it or not. Chances are, you won't even notice him there.

  • Yes, they are a social unit and it would be rude to exlcude him.

You'll barely notice him in your wedding day, trust me. You'll be head over heels for your new husband and you'll be pulled in 20 different directions - the day goes by so fast.

In my opinion, yes. An engagement does not automatically mean they are any more or less committed than another couple who is engaged. 2 and a half years sounds pretty committed to me. That's longer than some marriages. :)
Unfortunately, you don't get to pick and choose who your friends date. They are a social unit, though, and if you don't include him, then it would be rude.

  • Yes, as it would be very rude for you not to invite him.

  • Add me to the Yes's. If you don't want him there, don't invite the friend.
