I haven't had a too good relationship with my dad during my teenage years (which I find are the most important years in building a father-daughter-relationship). Recently we've gotten along better, but I still don't feel like I would want him to walk me downt he aisle next year. It's not going to be the world's most traditional wedding anyways and it will be in Europe, where my family lives. For the last 5 years I've lived overseas and have (finally) found my true self, built my own life and found happiness with my now fiance.
I know it might be selfish of me but I don't feel like I should be "given away" by my dad. He didn't do all that much and won't be paying a dime for the wedding (he's never been very generous to any of us kids).
Have any of you walked down the aisle alone or wished they would have?
