RSVP for wedding via internet/knot reponses

... is it like the worst thing ever to have my guests RSVP via internet/knot web site instead of having to buy RSVP cards, stamps and address them? Can't I just make a cute invitation and then add a lil note card that has our wedding website information and where to RSVP... tell me why I can't and if anyone think's okay, post that too!

  • I don't care to rely on the internet for things like this. Also, I know for a fact if I did this, it would drive FI's side of the family crazy.

  • Are all of your guests internet savvy?  Have a computer and an internet connection?  Even grandma/grandpa/old aunt sally?

I may do this, but we have a VERY small guest list and know they all could/would respond via the interwebz.

  • I guess this is getting more popular, it just seems so incredibly informal to me. Like one step up from having your wedding be a facebook event and collecting RSVPs that way.  I mean you can do it, just realize that not everyone is computer savvy and have another option I think for those people, a phone number at the very least.

  • What if someone does not have a computer?

  • There are a handful of people that I will make and send RSVP cards to/along with the invites, however, the majority of people work on computer all day and it would probably be easier to RSVP on line. I know it would make my life less hectic too.... humm.. this is a tough call!

  • I'm with TLV too. It does convey informality to me. I hope wedidng invitations via snailmail don't end up being one of those things that falls by the wayside and gets eaten by the internet.

  • We're doing it.  I also included my phone number for the two guests who don't use computers--although my parents would help my grandmother.  Everyone else is internet savvy.  I don't think online RSVPs have to be casual.  We have really nice invitations and our website converys a more formal style.  We just sent invitations out Monday.  I'm a little nervous, but I think it should work fine.
  • You don't need to decide this for 14 or so months.

  • I think it's fine as long as your wedding is very informal. But if you're going for any kind of formal or "elegant" feel, I don't think it would be in keeping with the the rest of the wedding.
