I know how you all love cliff notes, so here it goes.
1. my dad isn't walking me down the aisle, i'm having another close male friend who's more of a father to me and has been for years.
2. my dad left when i was six to live in cali with his mistress and her 2 kids (parents didn't divorce for another 2 years after he left).
3. when he cam back when i was 12/13 he moved in with us but was never really around..
4. by the time i was 15 he was moving in and out of my house because my older brother kept getting kicked out. so i feel kinda second best becuz when he was gone (to cali and moving w my brther) i never saw him.
5. growing up i have no memories until teenage years, and even those aren't nice ones...
6. since i've moved away 4 years ago for the army i've seen him MAYBE 3 times, since i've moved I've had a daughter, whom he's seen MAYBE 3 times.
SO, my dad called today as I had text him about getting his tux (his choice to get one). He asked if "he could be my dad and do the father/daughter dance"? I didn't know what to say...
so i can:
a) have the man walking me down the aisle do the dance.
b) split it up.
c) just have my dad do it.
I dont just want my dad to do it becuase he's never really been a dad and why should he get the spot light as the man who raised me, when he didn't? But I dont' want to cut all ties with him and I feel if I don't let him be in the wedding some way it will cause a lot of drama....any thoughts?
