Anyone know what the rules are on opening gifts at your shower? Is it considered rude not to open them?

Since the point of the shower is to "shower the bride with gifts," it's customary to open gifts during the event. I haven't been to a shower where gifts weren't opened and oohed and aahed over.

Yes, usually people open gifts at a shower... it's the whole point of a bridal shower. People go there with the expectation that you will open their gift and everyone will ooh and aah over it.
