Timeline to give guests to reply to invite?

i need some help with something if anyone can help me please. i'm getting married on October 2nd of this year and i would like to know what would be a good deadline to give my guests to reply to the invitation as to whether or not they will attend?! i have to give the final guest number to my caterer by 1 week before my wedding so that is why i need help with this. i would greatly appreciate any and all responses to help me figure this out.

I would give yourself a week or two before the final catering numbers are due so that you can contact any missing RSVP's.

I'd give yourself at least a week if not two to contact any missing RSVPers. So somewhere between 2-3 weeks before the wedding.

I would say to make your RSVP deadline at least two weeks in advance. Then wait a day or two after the deadline to account for stragglers, and start calling people who haven't responded. Then you can figure out your final number before your deadline.

Invites get mailed 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

we needed catering numbers 1 week in advance, and hotel rooms needed to be booked 2 weeks in advance, so I gave people an RSVP deadline of 3 weeks in advance so I had time to call stragglers. and I had to call quite a few people.

thanks soo much for the replies. it has helped me out greatly and i really appreciate it. i'm probably going to go with September 4th so it will give me time to call anyone who hasn't rsvped by then and that way i can get the final list to the caterer in time. thanks again to all of the people who replied and helped me out.
