how old do kids have to be to be included in the guest count?

im having kids at all ages at my ceremony and reception. i was wondering what age they have to be to have their own chair at the ceremony and their own plate at the reception. when they can sit on their own? i dont want to pay for plates that wont be used.

Re: how old do kids have to be to be included in the guest count?

  • If they are having a chair or space at the table (for a highchair) you will need to include them in the count in some manner so there is space for them.  My venue gave me pricing for 3-10 and indicated that children under 3 are free.  However, my plan is, when I put the menu choices for each person on the reply card, to include a checkbox for infant, and ask my guests to select that box for those babies who will not be requiring a meal.  If a 2 year old wants the chicken fingers, I am not going to deny him because my venue says it's for kids 3-10.
