FB Privacy Settings

Does anyone know how I can set FB so that NO ONE can find me when they search for me? My setting is on "Only friends," but I keep getting friend requests and can't figure out how to make it so that no one can find me.

I go to Settings -- /> Privacy Settings --> Search --> Facebook Search Results --> Only friends. The fact that people are finding me makes no sense to me.

Facebook recently changed a lot of stuff on the theory that "people don't even want privacy anymore."

I don't know WHAT exactly changed then, but everyone I know who thought they had it set to "unfindable" has been findable ever since.

That's such BS. I don't want possible employers (or creepers!) being able to search for me. I mean, all they'll see is a picture, networks, and pages but still. I want to be invisible again.

And also, under Privacy Settings - "Contact Information", the only options for "Add me as a friend" are "everyone" and "friends of friends." Nice.

sorry to say but even tho FB states that you can't goggle and find the facebook of that person you can..
I don't use my real name, I know this is a bit late since you already have an account. But I put Patty Mayo, which that is not my last name. I never use my real last name on any site at all including emails. when you receive an email from me it's usually "baby taz" or something like that... If you make all your things visible to friends only.  You can actually make your site where they have to send you a message in order to friend you or make the "add friend" button disappear..

I don't know how to fix that but on another note, why is fb all of a sudden all puppies and rainbows? Everyone's status's are about loving their mom,dad,sister,dog and high school music teacher. And all these damn "games" that keep getting messaged to me makes me want to snap my laptop in half.

Sarah - Whenever someone sends me some stupid request for some stupid application, I select "Ignore all requests from this user" and I never get them from that person again.

I am about to become the ignore/block/delete queen. I just read a comment on my friends status that said "hey how is yur niqht qoinq?" Yes, those are Q's instead of G's.

You can do what I do. If someone friend requests me and I don't want to be friends, I deny the request and then put them on the "block list". That way they will never be able to search for me or find me again!

I'm set to only friends, too, but other people see me post on someone's page and there all like, OMG, it's fishface! I'll just click on her and friend her!

Back in the day, they weren't able to do that.

There is a way, if you go through all of your settings and put them to Friends only, including all your photo albums. Then, if they are not your friend, they can't see it. Also make yourself unsearchable on google.

My sister did this and i had to call her to get her to friend me so I can see her. People who aren't her friends can't see her posts on my wall, even if they are my friends. They can't click on her tags or anything.

I set it up this way for my work (we use it to communicate with and find students), and all they can see is my profile pic and my name.

I have everything and it's brother's friend set to friends only, and a lot of them are even more selective than that.

They took away the "only friends" option for who can search you.  If you werne't a friend of mine, you could see my responses, but my name showed up in black.

Go to Privacy Settings, then Search, and a little message pops up saying that people have been starting nasty rumors. Click ok, and you can unclick the box for allowing search engine results.

There must be SOME way, because there is a girl I know (who I sometimes like to lurk) and I can find her because her email is in my list so if I find friends she comes up, but if I search her name or email in the bar, she doesnt appear, and this is recent.

That makes me sound creepy, but im just nosy. It does work, somehow.

That's a new thing (that you have to be searchable). I used to be 100% not searchable. Now, I get random friend requests all the time. I don't want to have to cut the FB cord, but it's getting closer.

No wonder I can see peoples stuff now.
I've been thinking for a while too that most of us on here try to stay so anonymous and yet because we have mutual friends I can see everyone else's post to someone and therefore know their real names, that kind of sucks. I wouldn't clearly do anything with that info but I know how some of you want to keep yourselves anonymous. I don't mind everyone being able to see my name though.

Hi all--I think you're searchable because you may belong to networks?  If you're in a network, I think you can be searched.  I'm not in a network, and I have my privacy set to "only friends", but people  complain that they can't find me.  Which is what i want!!  :  )
