Web address on invites?

My fiance and I are looking for a way to save money on invitiations and I was wondering if it would be in bad taste to put our wedding website at the bottom of the invite, instead of including seperate cards for directions, accomodations, etc.?

Thanks in advance for your help, ladies!

Re: Web address on invites?

  • I don't think that's appropriate...unless maaaaaybe you are having a super informal wedding.  It would look out of place on a more formal invite.

I don't know that I'd put in on the actual invite. You could include the website pretty easily. I bought a 50 pack of index card-sized plain cardstock at Hobby Lobby and cut it in half to be our reception cards. It was $3.99.

    You could print on them:

  • Yeah, we put our accommodation stuff on plain postcards we bought from Staples and printed ourselves.  It was super cheap.

  • No, not on the actual invitation.  On any of the other inserts, sure.  But not on the actual invite.

  • I just put a small card in with the invites and people will do what they want. Some might never look at your website, but some will.

  • I agree with pps... put the info on an insert.  We've recently received three wedding invitations this past month where the "insert" was a slip of computer paper nicely printed with the information.  It was fine and the rest of the invitation was formal.

  • Those are great ideas, thank you! I think we'll go with the card, listing the web address on it.

I like your wording, as well, Jess. Thanks!

  • I recently received a wedding invite with the website printed on the actual invitation, and nobody died. I have a feeling this will get more common.

Printing a separate card with the info is also a fine idea, though.

  • We are printing a link to our website on the reception & accomodation's card. I agree with PP that this will probably become more common.

I hate wedding inserts. I write the info I need down and I rip them up and toss them.

A wedding invite should not be a PITA to read. Put all the info on the inside, and keep it simple!
