For your enjoyment

Saw this gem on TB and thought of you all.

http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/37746541.aspx

CN: Chick gets KU, decides she doesn't want the big church wedding she and her fi had been planning. She tells her parents, they freak, so they elope and don't tell her parents. Her parents just found out because they tried to claim her as a dependant and the IRS called to tell them they can't because their daughter is married. Nothing's better than finding out about your daughters marriage from the IRS, right?

There's also some business about them still paying for her college and a "vow renewal" planned for later on so they can have a real wedding.

Enjoy. I'm posting and running because we're leaving the house in about 15 min.

Re: For your enjoyment

  • WTF everyones all like "good for you!"
  • At least they spent the money on the baby and a house instead of a huge party. I just do not understand why people hide huge life events (ahem, marriages) from family. It's hurtful and of course shiz is going to hit the fan when they find out.

    my father would be devasted

    my grandmother would cry

how can you get married and not tell your own family.... and let them find out in such a way as that?

  • I like how she says "well I found out that my parents lied about their shotgun wedding, too!"

I feel like replying that she shouldn't be proud to come from a family of liars that doesn't know how to use BC.  (No offense to those who got KU out of wedlock, but it's just interesting that it's a pattern in her family)

  • This should be bookmarked so we can reference it anytime a bride wants to do something like this.

  • The IRS wouldn't just call up someone and say they can't claim someone on their taxes - they would submit it, then get audited.

  • Looks like she's Canadian.. and she said the "Tax Center" called her parents.  I really don't know what that means, so maybe it's different in Canada.

  • That may be worse than my cousin.  She ran off and got married at 18 and didn't tell her parents.  Her mom found out from someone at the grocery store (small town).  Then she also found out her daughter was pregnant.

Since then, she's had 3 babies.  I found out on facebook last fall that she separated from her husband, is dating another guy, and pregnant with new guys baby (her 4th one in 6 years).  Her divorce was finalized in March, baby is due any day now.  She also had the balls to be upset when her ex husband starting dating someone new about 2 weeks before the divorce was final.  Uh, you were 6 months pregnant with another guys baby at the time.  Pot, meet kettle.
