rho - my friend makes the BEST Key Lime Pie Martinis!  He uses real whipped cream and every sip is amazing.  I'm not even too into mixed drinks, but I adore these.

Too bad he's a diick and I don't see him anymore. Oh well.

Oh wow, I didn't know if you had followed up on anything.  Hopefully it gets to the point where it's just cool and fun!  What music are they singing?

I really want to go, but I shouldn't.  DH and I are planning a trip to visit the Ikea in Texas sometime in the next few weeks, so I have to leave room for that...plus, I really shouldn't spend $ on flights now.  :(  If I had unlimited money, I'd be there in a heartbeat!

Well. . . I still have to post a formal plan.  It's on my list to do tomorrow, assuming there are no further emergency surgeries in my family this week. 

Either downtown/arena district, or Easton.  (Or, something similar.  Forgive my KUI, I'm not checking my notes.)  We'll probably have a fluid schedule, like if you want to meet at 3 we'll be HERE, and if you want to meet at 7 we'll be HERE. 

I'm fully expecting to find at least one lurker we've never HEARD of to show up.  Just be prepared to introduce yourself more thoroughly than the regs.  I really think the more, the merrier, in this case.

They worked on two pieces they're performing this weekend.  I am apparently going to be singing lead, which is fun.  If I Had My Way is the name of one. . . and I don't remember the other. 

They actually just won 3rd at the international competition in December.  Which is nice and intimidating. 

My HS chior was pretty kick-ass, and I was a 1st Sop, section leader and all that shiit.  So, I *should* be able to pick this up.  Honestly, I was just happy that there were other women under 50 present.

Sucrets--they're cool. They're initally a senstive bunch, but lovely and tough nonetheless. Chicago gals can deal...we suffer harsh winters, corrupt politicians and terrible, losing teams, so a little P&E fluff rolls off our backs like ducks and water.

Haha, yeah, I was invited to sing with a group down here and decided not to do it.  One of the moms of a student invited me and she was probably the youngest there by far.  Great that they won 3rd - sounds like a great place to be!  Lead is an interesting place considering you were a 1st sop, but it's the most straightforward and fun since it's usually the melody.

I really wish I could come to the gtg.  I looked into it and all, but don't think it's going to happen.  It would have been AWESOME to meet everyone, though!

Glad to hear that!  I can't imagine what it must be like being stuck between two worlds, as you said.  My local is D-E-A-D.

Sucrets, my upper range is GONE.  Mostly because I just don't do it anymore.  I think if I sang daily like I used to, it would come back - sort of like flexibility and strength for athletes.  I'm missing about half an octave right now to sing Tenor, based on what I heard the other night.  Of course, with sorority stuff in college I sang everything, anything, because nobody else could/would.  It was. . . interesting.

I've never been to Memphis.  I don't know when the hell I'd make that happen, but you, me, LVB, and Whit in Memphis could be fun.  FI would likely want to come too, tho.

I hear ya about range - I never sing high anymore, so I've definitely lost that.  You can easily get it back by working on it, but also realize that your voice is physically a little bit different now than it was in HS.  It continues to change through your early 20s-ish.

How far are you from Memphis?  I could DEFINITELY swing that, and I'm sure DH would come, too.  I wouldn't want to drive the 2-3 hours by myself at this point, anyway.

I'm 2.5 from Nashville and I think. . . 4? from Memphis.  When are you due?  Would early April work?  (I have no idea when our bach parties are going to be, although I think March, so I need some flexibility here.)

Our wedding is May 8, and LVB is a week after us.  Whit is about 2 months out I think.  Right?

I'm due at the end of May, so we'll see about April - I'll probably be pretty big by then!  I have break at the end of March and I'm probably flying home for that (hopefully) so it should work out.
