David's Bridal is stalking me!

DB has called me 30 times in the last few weeks. I kid you not. It's rediculous!

They are calling because I put in my info in their "Request an appointment online" form a month ago when I wanted to make an appointment. I thought the next screen would be an online form that I could actually make and appointment with, but instead they said they'd call me. Eff that, I just went ahead and called them. And I ordered my dress from them a few weeks later.

Now they keep. calling. every. day. Often I don't answer because they only call during business hours and I'm busy at work. When I do answer I get silence, because I never say "hello" a second time (ya know how a computer actually calls you, and they only connect you to a live person if you say it again).

I finally called back and left a voicemail telling them to stop calling me. Seriously, I already paid you hundreds for a dress - leave me alone!

  • I'd be asking for a discount equal to the amount they cost me in minutes on my cell phone.

That's funny, because when I wrote that it was too long, I was specifically thinking of your confession the other day that you won't read long posts! :)

  • Men's Wearhouse was worse for me.

They called me so many times and finally I said to the associate "look, I'm not ready to make an appt yet, okay?  I will call back when I am.  Please don't call me again." and the phone calls finally stopped.

They did the same to me. I just ignored them though, and they stopped after a few weeks. I think they got the message.

EDIT - This also happens a lot with those "debt collector" companies calling my number, but looking for someone else. They call non-stop for a week at a time, then take a break for a few months, then do it again looking for someone else. Wtf!

  • gg - try having my last name.  We get calls all.the.time since apparently everyone with that last name is related.

  • They send so many emails it's rediculous.

Did they sell your info to Mary Kay too? I "won" the free facial makeover for me and my bridal party 4 days ago. Lady called, said she was "from David's Bridal" and set up my appointment. I thought it was a legit facial from a salon until I drove a 45 minutes from my house only to find out that she was not "from" David's Bridal, and that I was booby trapped into attending a Mary Kay party. Apparantly this happens a lot.

I've been having the SAME problems!  I request at least once a week to be removed from their contact lists.  I work over the phone in customer service... and they are starting to turn me into "that girl" who calls in angry and is at the boiling point.

I finally got the store to stop calling me.  But the same Mary Kay party thing happened to me too... I didn't wind up going, one of my BMs sisters used to sell Mary Kay, so she tipped me off.

I've decided not to do any business with DB, because I do not want to promote that kind of service, especially when it is for a national service through their website... which didn't make my mom very happy, she really liked one of their dresses.  But my sister/MOH was there when they started yelling at me after I asked them to stop contacting me.  I recorded it, so her support and the recording stopped a lot of my contact with them.

If anyone knows how to get them to stop the emails, please help with that one!  I'm getting between 4 and 7 a day now... and they are sending through a circuit, so they bypass my junk and go into my regular inbox.
  • It's a real shame because the dress I really want is from them, and I haven't been able to find one similar enough elsewhere.

I don't know how to stop the emails. I ended up creating a new email account yesterday just for my wedding, and they don't have it. I'm marking everything from them as spam on my normal account, and hopefully it'll stop soon.

My MOH and I were laughing so hard we cried when we realized we woke up at 7 am today and drove all that way to be ambushed by a Mary Kay rep. She never mentioned MK in either phonecall so alas, I was none the wiser.
  • I had the same problem after signing up online to request an appointment.  Like you, I ended up calling them to make an appointment and I bought my dress from them that very day.  The calls still kept on coming daily (sometimes 2-3 times per day) for about a month or more.  They suddenly stopped after around a month or so - hang in there!!!

Next time they call, answer and tell them to stop calling you.  When you do that they have 30 days to take you off their calling list.  If they continue to call after 30 days you can report them and they will be fined $11,000 per call.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. Because trust me when I tell you honey, they're gonna need it. ~jcaruncho2010

  • Scream into the phone once or twice and they remove your name VERY quickly from their call list.
  • Um...this is going to sound really mean, but whenever we get repeated phones calls like that, we just bang the phone really hard against the counter a few times. Then hang up. They don't call back.
