Card Box

I wasn't happy w/my first attempt at my card box so I'm going to make another one. Problem is paper source didn't have the boxes I wanted. I want to do a three tiered box but cant decide what would look better. What do you ladies think?Paper:Box Set #1 Measures 8", 9", 10"Box Set #2 Measures 4", 5", 6"

I'm going to ask a ridiculously stupid question here, but, what purpose does the card box serve? Is it for the reception, for people to leave cards?

haha I wsnt going to do one until i heard of people bringing cards to the reception w/cash / GCs in them vs gifts. I've heard some stories of cards gone missing from receptions, so i wanted to do a sealed box to elimate this problem. Katherine, do you want to make one with me :) I can order extra!

pretty paper!! I wanted to do a card box, but couldn't ever find boxes. haha too late now. We just did a basket, I wasn't worried about people stealing money. anyways, to answer your questions I like the second set of boxes!

I like the square boxes. Here's what my awesome art major bridesmaid put together for me over the weekend. I helped a little, but she was the brains behind it. We used leftover gift boxes from Christmas :)

I'm going to add some more ribbon around the middle box to help cover up my terrible wrapping skills....

Yes, thank god for Kelly. There's no way I have the patience to put something like that together by myself. I kind of explained to her what I was going for & she ran with it. She did all the real work. I just helped wrap the top 2 boxes.

I think it would look great! I think that box set #1 will be a good set. Set #2 seems like it would be huge. So, I'd go with #1, maybe decorate them slightly different from each other so they stand apart.

Kgaliger, I think the top group of more rectangular boxes would look better. Like Meredith said, the square ones would be so tall! And wow Jessica, your card box looks great! Question - and this is just my card box ignorance rearing its ugly head - are all of the boxes open so that the cards put in the top slot would fall all the way down to the bottom box? Does that make sense?? I have some leftover shipping boxes and VS boxes that I plan on using for this but haven't given it too much thought yet.

Your largest square box is smaller than most card widths, so I'd go with the rectangle boxes. The way I've seen these is the slit goes in the second box, and the top of the bottom box is cut out enough for the cards to fall through. I love this idea. It's adorable, and I LOVE the paper! I searched and searched for a carvable fake ivory pumpkin, and finally found one this weekend for my card box. It's been the easiest DIY project so far!

If you didn't have to cut the bottom out after the wedding to get to the cards, I'd totally let you borrow it for 10.10! :)

HAHA - That is really kind, Bec! I think you did a beautiful job with all the embellishments on it! I don't think that if I got one myself that I could make it nearly so pretty..

The only thing I did was handcomp the "Cards" onto it with a pencil, then I went over it in gold paint pen. The rest is a sheet of scrapbook embellishments I found and stuck around the word when I was finished. Trust me, you could do it! I stuck a piece of masking tape in the spot where I needed the slot, and trimmed it out. It was really easy. Try it! There's a post on the DIY board with a 50% off Michael's coupon, so that makes it even better!

Hehe, thanks Kristine!! U know what, I think im just going to take a big box, wrap it in some nice wedding paper (wrapping paper), stick a nice white sheer bow on it, cut a big slit, and be done. :) Good thing I found out about this, I never would have thought to make a card box :)

Yep Grace. $19.99 full price, but I had a 40% off coupon. And they had a ton of the 13" ivory.

Baganatt, my boxes are open all the way to the bottom. I'll have to rip my boxes apart to get everything out.

I wanted to do the carvable pumpkin after seeing it on here. We loved the idea but then I went to get one and the price was a little more than I wanted to pay for it. I had thought about waiting closer till the wedding but my FI had a wonderful idea today. We bought a mailbox from Lowes for $12 (white) and we are going to stencil the side of it and put our inital on the front. It is also something we can use for our house too! He can be helpful every now and then! It surprises me, lol.
