Monogram Question

Ok, so I want to do a monogram cake topper but I have a question... Fi's legal name is Robert but his middle name is Scott and he goes by Scott, always has. SOOOO, is it ok for me to use S as his part of the monogram or do I do the legal R? Does it even matter?

Why don't you just do a single letter for your last name and skip the question?

I go by my middle name so therefore we are using my middle initial. I think everyone would be seriously confused (especially those who do not know my first name) if they saw another letter there.

Like Danielle said, some people might not even know his first name and get confused. I didn't even know my own uncle went by a middle name until I got an email from his work email where they'd put his initial of his first name. Like a year ago. Who knew?!
