WWED

So, interview Tuesday.  Money is, as usual, tight.  WWED?

Re: WWED

  • I wouldn't get a haircut specifically for an interview. I wouldn't suggest going with uncombed hair, but I don't think you need it freshly cut to make a good impression.
  • I forgot to add that I haven't had my hair professionally cut since last year before the wedding.  It's had a couple of bad chops since then, but that's all.
  • Is it long enough to pull up in some way? If your bangs are decent and it's long enough to do something with, then I might wait until after the holidays if money is tight.
  • Pull it back, and no one will notice the previous bad chops. If you're like me and play with your hair a lot, it'll keep you from doing that too.
  • You want to project confidence and be comfortable with yourself.  If you think the haircut will make a big difference in how you're going to carry yourself that day, then you should go for it.  If you think it would be nice, but won't make you feel like a million bucks, feel free to skip it.

I've been dying to get my hair nicely cut for approxmiately 130982340 days. :D
  • If you want the haircut, go for it, but not because of the job interview.  Personally, I always feel really good and confident after I get my hair cut, so if you think it's going to put a little extra spring in your step, go for it!

  • Would you want to risk having another bad haircut the day before?  Even nice salons occasionally produce shoddy results.

Iiiii didn't even think about that Arb.
  • Bad roots/highlights?  I'd get that fixed.  Bad cut?  Meh, pull it back.

  • I have bangs, and they always look kind of "startled 5 year old" the day they're cut, so I also agree with Arbs. I didn't realize you hadn't had a haircut at the place you're considering yet - I wouldn't try a new place right before an interview. Just pull it back neatly, no one will be able to tell how the ends are looking.

my thoughts exactly! Especially since you've been dying to get it cut for so long, you might get excited and go for something new and different...and then hate it and feel super icky at the interview. If you get it cut, stick with something you know you love and don't go all "OMZG I NEEDS A HAIRZ CUT - ALL OF ZEM!!!"

BUT! If you want something different than what you have now and don't want to spend the money to just have it cut back to normal...I'd pull it back for the 'view and then go get a great haircut after you land the job. Cause you will.
  • So, you're saying I shouldn't get my hairs done like this?

I think the biggest thing for me is that I've gained so much weight lately (about 10lbs) that I don't feel like myself, and my hair is fine enough that it won't do much that's fun when pulled back.  I don't know.  I guess the whole feeling of me right now is awkward and uncomfortable.  Right now, I just think I look really young.  When I pull may hair back, it pretty much has to go into a pony tail because there's nothing else that can be done with it.

    So, ponytail:

  • Ooh...I like your hair in that second picture! The bangs are cute

The Natalie Imbruglia (I refuse to google to see if this is the correct spelling lol)  thing is cute too. I dont think I'd do the pony tail, go get the haircut =)

I love the little wispy bangs...YES! DO IT!
  • Wow.  I had NO idea that's who that was!! Crazy!
  • This is the other cut I was considering:

  • I like Natalie's better, I think those bangs will work better with your hair based on the pics you posted, and the length is cute.

Still not sure I would do it with a new stylist right before the interview though...

I actually had a really awful haircut last Monday and have had three interviews since then which seemed to go well despite the awful hair (my workmates love my new style, but I HATE it and I think most people who know me well know that it doesn't suit me!). I am thinking that in order to 'save' my hair I may get a similar cut to that on Natalia Imbruglia (sp?) that you posted, too!

Oh, but re: interviews, I meant to add: I think that impressions are very important, even though you'd hope that in any decent job they'd try their hardest not to bias themselves based on your looks... I use tricks like wearing my reading glasses for interviews to try and convey a sense of intelligence (works well if you are in a nerdy field as I am!) which sounds ridiculous but I really think does help (I am kicking myself that I forgot to wear them for my first interview on Thursday! sigh!). Little things like that are easy ways to play to subconscious biases that clearly aren't intended to be part of the selection process but inevitably do play some role.

Good luck for your interview! What is the job?
