Do you generally do the same thing every year?  No, we do something different every year - I love to get dressed up, so it's my preference to go out to big parties.

Best new year's you've had?  I think 2002, it was our first year out of college, and we went out to a huge party with everyone.  I randomly ran into some friends from college, so it was a ton of fun.

Worst new year's you've had?  I got nothing.

What are you doing this year?  I don't know yet!  My friends are being super lame.  Most of them are trying to get pregnant, so some don't want to go out.  This is seriously one of their reasons - "Everyone is going to be looking at who is not drinking and then guessing who i s pregnant."  Um no.  JC, have fun.  So I will probably make plans with work friends.  I'm off Thursday-Monday, so I would love to go away to Miami or something with some people from work, but H has to work

Awesome or overrated? Awesome - my favorite holiday by far.

Best new year's you've had? Uhm... Niagara Falls New Years are pretty spectacularly awesome.

Worst new year's you've had? The one where I had pneumonia. Notsofun.

What are you doing this year? I don't know. Hanging out at home with yummy appys, lots of fizzy booze and wine, good music and a couple of friends maybe? I haven't decided and probably won't until I see the weather forecast.

Awesome or overrated? It can be awesome, but planning is key.

I was going for champagne but uhm... I tend to drink a lot of mojitos... those have fizz. And um... erm... Okay no, I don't drink a lot of fizzy stuff other than those and beers.

Do you generally do the same thing every year? Lately yes.  I stay home.  Haha.  H is always working.  I have only rang in one NY with him.  Out of 6.  This year I'll probably chill with my sister, since she's living across the street.

Best new year's you've had? I had a really good one a few years back with friends.  There was only about 6 or 7 of us.

Worst new year's you've had? One year I was at a party where I didn't know anyone and I had gotten my tongue pierced that day.  So I couldn't swallow any drinks.  I had to chew on ice all night.  Sober = NOT FUN.

What are you doing this year? Chillin with my sister unless she makes plans.  Then I will watch some lame movies with my kittehs.  My friend is having a party, but I don't know if I feel like going yet.

Awesome or overrated? Way overrated in terms of going out.  Paying $100 for a dinner and one glass of champagne?  Meh.  Maybe if I did get to spend it with my H.  But even then, we'd probably stay in or have a party.

Do you generally do the same thing every year? Ya, usually some kind of party with the same friends

Best new year's you've had? I look back at like, the last 4 or 5 and can't really pick a "best"..lots of those things where you look back and go "remember when this happened?", happened at about all of them.

Worst new year's you've had? Probably one with my douchebag ex.  Because any time I look back at anything with him I get the heebie jeebies

What are you doing this year? Don't know.  We never seem to have a plan till Dec 31

Awesome or overrated? Awesome, but just as awesome as most of our parties are.  Not to sound too bold, but we've had some pretty epic parties.  My friends rule.

Do you generally do the same thing every year?  No, we switch it up between going out and staying in

Best new year's you've had?  Probably when DH and I had only been seeing each other for a week and we managed to convince both of our groups of friends to come to the same bar.  Everyone ended up getting along great and it was so much fun.  Plus we had that new-relationship excitement going on :P

Worst new year's you've had?  One year there was a blizzard but we'd already bought tickets to a gala so we decided to make it work.  We got stuck in the snow on the way there and when we got to there it was totally empty and lame.

What are you doing this year?  Not sure yet

Awesome or overrated?  Going out is overrated.  Way too expensive and hyped up.  But I like the excitement of New Years and house parties or just staying in can be really fun

Worst new year's you've had? probably this year when it was just hubs and I

What are you doing this year? dunno yet, probably the same as this year considering we won't be home. If H isn't on call, we can drink and maybe we will go to a friends house here if we are invited or maybe have them over

Awesome or overrated? I think it's awesome if you have a good time, but boring if you are w/out family and friends to party it up with.

Do you generally do the same thing every year? For the most part.  Since we usually go to bars with friends or to a friends house. 

Best new year's you've had? Probably last year.  At the time we were still planning on getting married this New Year's, so everyone kept talking about how a year from then they would be at our wedding.  And it was just the excitement of knowing how much change was going to happen for us in the new year.     

Worst new year's you've had? Ughhh, in high school, actually when it became the year 2000.  We were all at a house party and a few of us girls were given the date-rape drug.  Probably one of the worst nights of my life.

What are you doing this year? Not sure yet.  It won't be the same to be out with all of our friends without H, and I really hate crazy crowded bars anymore anyways.  Probably just going to spend it with family since I'll be going back home a few days after that.
 
Awesome or overrated? I think its pretty awesome when you have things to look forward too in the new year.  But sometimes it does feel overrated when you have nothing to look forward to.

Do you generally do the same thing every year? It all depends what day of the week it is and if I have to work it or the next day so its completely different every year.

Best new year's you've had? The year we went to Seattle and stood below the Space Needle as the fireworks went off. I think it was my sisters 16th birthday.

Worst new year's you've had? The year my sister stormed out of the house because her birthday celebration wasn't going the way she wanted it to and she told the family to F off and left.

What are you doing this year? Again have to figure out what I'm working. But probably not too much as being almost 6 months pregnant is probably going to make me only want to sleep.

Awesome or overrated? Awesome most of the time.

Best new year's you've had? by far 1999>2000, seeing phish in big cypress, florida. most amazing time i've ever had in my entire life. life-changing, awe-inspiring.

Worst new year's you've had? 2004>2005. h and i were split up, i was heartbroken, and spent it alone.

What are you doing this year? want to see phish at msg, but the ticket situation doesn't look promising. if that doesn't pan out, we're gonna see trombone shorty in dc.

Awesome or overrated?awesome. much better than most other holidays.

Best new year's you've had? Probably 2008-2009; it was my first NYE with H, and we just spent the night in with some friends, watching movies and drinking.

Worst new year's you've had? 2002-2003; my "best friend" confessed that he had a crush on me and it ended up being terrible.

What are you doing this year? No idea yet; I think H is working.

Awesome or overrated? Usually overrated.  I always feel like crap the next day from staying up too late.

Do you generally do the same thing every year? No, it kind of depends where we are/what we feel like doing.

Best new year's you've had?The first New Years after I turned 21. It was fiun to go to a bar and drink legally withi all our good friends.

Worst new year's you've had? Any whern I was younger and I just stayed at home with my parents and didn't do anything. They fell asleep by like 11.

What are you doing this year? Not sure yet. Last year was a very low key one, so we may go out and do something this year. But then again, we are saving money for the wedding and what not, so I may not want to blow $$ on NYE.

Awesome or overrated? I think it can be awesome in that it's a fun night out with friends/significant other. But any night can be like that. I think NYE in general is a little overrated. Too much pressure to make it "great."

Daffodil Jill - Trombone Shorty is incredible.  I would LOVE to see him on NYE.  That would be so amazing.

 

Do you generally do the same thing every year?  No.  Depends on whether we have the kids.  

Best new year's you've had?  I kind of hate to admit it, but it was with my ex and we hosted a party for our family and friends that turned into a really fun, booze-filled, dancing and singing party.  I generally don't like NYE, so this one that was actually fun stands out.   Oh, and the 1999-2000 NYE was fun because of all the "ooh, y2k scary" stuff - at around 3 a.m. my friend & I were the only ones awake and all the power in the block went out.  Turned out to be nothing special, but for a while we were convinced the end was upon us.  

Worst new year's you've had?  When I was around 11 and my parents went out, as they did every year, and I got accidentally extremely drunk drinking home-made apple cider that had turned hard.  They got home and I was experiencing serious bedspins and laughing my ass off/heaving simultaneously.

What are you doing this year?  Probably not much.  If we have the kids, we'll stay up until midnight and go out with noisemakers and maybe make a pizza or something.  

Awesome or overrated?  Overrated, imo.  Too much pressure to go out and have fun.  Fun!  fun!  fun!   Plus it's always freezing cold here and really unpleasant to go out wearing anything like party clothes.

Not really. Sometimes we go over to a friends house, sometimes we go out. Last year we stayed home.

Best new year's you've had?
Senior year of college I drove to a nearby college with friends and had a blast

Worst new year's you've had?
2-3 years ago our plans fell through and FI and I ended up getting into a huge fight that night. I convinced him to go to a bar he didn't want to go to and ended up spilling a beer on his freshly dry cleaned sweater. I took NYE off the pedestal after that.

What are you doing this year?
No idea. Staying home is still a possibility since last year was kind of nice

Awesome or overrated?
Both. I LOVE NYE, but I sometimes get my hopes up for it being super duper awesome and then it's kind of a let down. I've had to take it off the pedestal. I've also had to convince myself that just because I'm in my 20's and staying in on NYE =/= being a loser. It was nice last year.

Do you generally do the same thing every year? It's always different but rarely exciting

Best new year's you've had? I was in the Bahamas with my parents one year. That was incredible with the fireworks, parades, etc.

Worst new year's you've had? When I was 19 I drove 4 hours from college to be with my bf of 1 year for New Years. He ignored me all night for his friends and then kissed his mom on the cheek when the ball dropped. He was a winner.

What are you doing this year? It depends on H's work schedule. If he has to work Sunday we'll probably just go to bed early. If he has off that day we might have some friends over and they'll drink champagne while I drink apple juice.
