Hostess gifts and TY cards

The shower is tomorrow. At what point do I give the hostesses their hostess gifts? And do I give them thank you cards at the same time or afterward by mail?

I think whenever it feels comfortable and convenient is the right time.

I got to my shower a little early and gave hostess gifts with a card thanking them for hosting then. I sent thank yous for their gifts after the shower.

I gave the TY gift to my shower hostess after nearly everyone had left.  I think I included a small note with the gift, and then wrote her a longer TY card and mailed it.
