After Party Question

I feel like I've been posting a ton of post lately... but we're in the beginning of our planning and I have a lot of questions before I put deposits on places.

I'm posting this here because you regulars on here seem to be brutally honest... and I love that.  :P

One of my options for our wedding is to have an afternoon wedding on Sunday, 10-10-10.  I was thinking of having a late afternoon ceremony (most people will want to attend their regular church services) and followed immediately with a late lunch reception at the same location.

Now... this will probably all wrap up by 5 or 6... but most of our friends and out-of-town guest will have Monday off (It's a Federal Holiday too).

Can we arrange for a private room somewhere at a nice restaurant with a bar or a swanky club and invite everyone to an "after party" of sorts and NOT host it and let them pay for themselves??

Thanks guys!

Re: After Party Question

  • So... could I use Evite?

AND... even though I know a lot of people on our guest list won't want to come... do I have to extend the information/invitation to them?

  • I think evite would be great for something of this caliber.

  • Definitely invite everyone.  I went to a wedding that had an after party that only certain people were invited to.  I know at the reception some feelings were hurt when a friend said to the groom's cousin, "so are you going to the afterparty?" and the cousin clearly had no idea what she was talking about.  Even if they don't want to go, they should be invited or told about it.
