  • Depends on the dates of the shower and wedding.  Wedding is usually 6-8 prior.

  • Shower, typically. But if your shower is within 6-8 weeks of the wedding, then I guess the wedding may come first.

  • Wedding invites should go out first, as it's rude to invite guests to the shower and not the wedding. However, because my sister lives OOT, my shower was thrown 7 weeks before my wedding so she could attend, so obviously, guests got those invites first.

  • I believe wedding invites are supposed to go out first.

I had one shower that came before the wedding invites went out though, and it wasn't a big deal. Everyone that came to that shower knew they were invited to the wedding.

I actually disagree with this. As long as the guest is invited to both the shower and the wedding, one can be sent out before the other.

Showers are often a few months before the wedding, when it would be far too early to send out the invitations for the weddings.
  • My shower was in September for my late November wedding, so shower invites went out well before the wedding invites. But everyone on the shower list was also invited to the wedding and since we had sent Save the Dates, knew full well that they were invited to the wedding before they received the shower invite (it was all close family and friends who would have known they were invited anyway).
