Opps, now what?

Mailed out our invitations on Saturday and today I realized that I misspelled one of our guests first name!  What's the best way to handle this?  I don't want her to think I don't know how to spell her name!

Re: Opps, now what?

  • I'd just let it go. It happens. Spell it correctly on her TY card.
  • You could email and mention it and apologize. No biggie though, so don't go way out of your way to make up for it.

  • I totally messed up 2 names on the invitation. Just spell it correctly on her escort/place card, thank you note, etc.

  • Don't mention it, but make sure it's spelled correctly on escort cards and thank yous.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • This happens to me all the time (people spell both my first and last name wrong) I'm pretty used to it by now lol. But I agree with PP's don't mention it and make sure it's spelled right everywhere else.
  • We did this too.  We just corrected it for TY cards and on our guest seating list (we had a big framed list instead of cards).

  • Depends on who it was. If it was a friend or close family member, I'd probably shoot off an email with a quick apology and something self-deprecating (I can't believe what a space I've been getting these invitations out. I just realized I spelled your name wrong--I'm sorry; I DO know how to spell your name... etc. etc. etc.)

Someone else, I'd probably just mention it next time you see them with a quick apology. I spelled the last name of my cousin's wife wrong (not her real name, but say the name was Dartz -- I spelled it Darz) and realized it right after I sent them out. Next time I saw her, I apologized and told her it was a total brain fart since I really did know how to spell her name (truth). It was no big deal, but she appreciated that I acknowledged it (she was actually just happy that I'd used HER name, not husband's even if I did spell it wrong).
