So my FI's family is flying in from France/Martinique & arriving in JFK at 7pm next Tuesday. Rush hour in NYC is not fun. My car died, so we only have FBIL who can fit 4 passengers, but there are 5 arriving. We have no one else who can help. FI's family feels that WE should pay >$200 for a taxi service to pick them up & bring them to NJ.
FI's reason is 'in our culture, the B&G have to receive their guests and pay for it if necessary.' Plus, they don't speak English, so how can they help themselves. I say no because part of agreeing to fly here for the wedding is paying for the expenses (flight, hotel, food...). I feel they should be responsible.
I know it would be the nice thing to do to pay, but is it really our obligation?
