Also, is it alright to give our BP gifts at the RD? Or is the day of better?

We gave our parents gift certificates (restaurants for two of them, casino for the other because they were going out to the casino with OOT family the night before the wedding).  From what I know, most people give WP gifts at the RD.  We gave ours about a month before the wedding because we thought they would be handy for a trip we all went on pre-wedding.

We did not give gifts.

His parents were our witnesses, but we took them out for a very nice dinner the night before to celebrate their belated 40th wedding anniversary.  My mom was not part of the wedding.

We're giving the WP their gift totes/baskets when they arrive in town. Everyone is arriving a couple days early to see the city, so we bought all of them a CityPass, and we're including little things like a CTA 5-day pass, Garrett's Popcorn, a cupcake from Sprinkles, a bottle of Goose Island Ale... things like that. We're still compiling a list of ideas.

We're paying for our parents' hotel rooms and giving them a wedding album once we have the pro pics back. FI and I are going to write letters to include in the albums.

We gave our parents, bridal party, and readers gifts at the RD.  We gave our parents glass sculptures from Simon Pearce, the designs of which were personally meaningful to them.  We also wrote heartfelt notes to everyone.  Our parents loved the sculptures and display them in their homes.

In our case, albums and/or additional prints for parents were included in our photography package, so they will get those, but I didn't think those counted as a gift.

I would shop for your parents as you would on a birthday/holiday.

We gave all WP gifts and parent gifts at the RD.  We gave gift certificates to a really nice restaurants for our parents.  We chose a place that is nice and more of a special occasion place they enjoy to go to.  We also gave heartfelt cards.

DD gave us each a card with a very nice letter in it. She also gave H (the only parent who has been in her life since day one) a handkerhief which was embroidered with some sentimental wording. He used it! LOL. 

Really, seeing your kids  enjoying each other, the day and friends/family is pretty much enough of a 'gift', but the letters were nice. Both DD and SIL also said some very nice things to/about us at the reception when they spoke to the assembled masses.  

Don't think I've ever been so thankful for and proud of my family. One of the best days EVER. (It was a week ago today, so I'm still kind of walking on clouds from it all!)

I gave the gifts the night before. 

MOH and BM were given personal gifts (coach bag and cigar with case).  My little ones (I had 7 children) were given age-appropriate "jewelry."  Little girls were given necklaces (some chose to wear for the wedding, some didn't).  The boys were given slap watches (not wedding appropriate but very boy-friendly). 

I honestly don't remember what we gave our parents.  We gave FIL a gag gift which he loved.
