Olympic Coverage

THIS right here is why they need to show entire events, even the no names!  I'd have liked to have seen this yesterday while I was watching!!!!  I'm a sucker for a good splat.

Re: Olympic Coverage

  • Omg no.  This actually happened!?

  • AMEN STACKS! Or at least, during the primetime coverage, show us some of the awesome/terrible/hilarious moments of the day.
  • Yup, yesterday.  And I don't even recall them even referencing it.  I'm going to watch it again tonight and see, maybe I wasn't paying attention.
  • I've been watching live streaming of some of the events online during the day and it's so much more "Olympic give you goose bumps" feeling.  And the Brits are the commentators and they are not biased about the coverage at all.  It's coverage for all.
  • I just googled, I love that his last name is Feck.

    FECK!!

  • Ha.  yea.  And how they're saying he "Feck'd up"  bwahahaha.
  • I second the vote for Olympic bloopers.  You know there has to be a crap ton out there and they would be hilarious!

  • That is greatness.
I wish they would show more stuff like that.

  • Olympic coverage has been pissing me off. Every night I try to catch up on my gymnastics, and it takes me approximately 12 minutes to log in the fucking NBC website, and then another 10 to find the entire video. I keep getting fooled into watching the "highlights" videos. No biiitch, I want to see the Russians too! What is the point of watching JUST the winners, when you don't even know what they are up against. Fvck NBC.
  • oooh... that's a good video.  My husband was a collegiate diver (and ranked well in the NCAA!) so he loves watching the diving.

Last night, the Chinese guy in the 3m springboard finals messed up badly (he went in the water mostly okay, but he was about twenty feet from the board and practically not in the diving well anymore!)  Everyone was like "ooooooooooh my god!"

Not just the Russians!  The Romanians, the Chinese...remember when Australian had a bitchin' team?  Apparently they've dropped off the map because NOBODY SHOWS THEM ANYMORE.

(They're there.  We just never, ever see them.)

  • I saw that last night.   How embarrassing.

I think I'm the only one who doesn't mind NBC coverage.  They are suppose to have 5535 HOURS of coverage in 17 days.    That's 1935 hours more than Beijing.   Even so it's not possible to cover  204 different countries with 10942 athletes competing in 28 different sports making up 302 different events.   With some 500+ athletes of our own, it's not really a stretch to think they would show more of our events than others.  Surely their hometowns would like to see their own compete over someone else.

cool thing is we have the internet to check out what we missed.  The first Olympics i watched was the 1976 Olympics.  There was a few hours each night.  That was all.   Luckily that was in Montreal so it was the same time zone for prime time.   When it was overseas nothing was live.

  • At least it's not more beach effing volleyball.

  • I SERIOUSLY don't give a rat's ass about basketball, and between that and boxing, there is little else on right now. I saw a grand total of about 90 seconds of the equestrian events (our favorites), no wrestling, no judo, no women's boxing... bah, humbug. Best Olympic coverage I got was during the 1996 Atlanta games. Since I was a volunteer with a real office (okay, it was shared office space) overlooking Centennial Olympic Park, we had a live feed to every single event being contested. Didn't even have to listen to any commentary, either.

Click on it. It assigns your computer a UK IP address and enables you to watch all the events live.

    Allegedly.
  • see I have yet to see boxing or basketball.   I've watched a lot of other stuff though.  Women's water polo was pretty cool today.  I'm a little tired of beach volleyball, although the game today was pretty exciting.   I like Archery the first weekend.  Swimming, gymnastics and diving.  I can take or leave track events.

I watched a lot of stuff online.

  • I watched synchro swimming today. That ish is intense!
  • I was just in London for the last week, and the BBC coverage is amazing- several different channels, showing everything live.  They definitely focus on the Brits a little more, but not to the extent that NBC is focusing on the Americans.

If the above rec for getting a UK IP address works, try going to the BBC site- you can have full playback of all the events, not just live streaming.
