Ok to cash gift checks before the wedding?

Hello! I'm just trying to find out when is it appropriate to cash checks from guests? Wedding is Oct 20...we've gotten some checks in the rsvp envelope. Can you cash them early or do you wait until after the wedding is over?

Cash them and send thank you notes now, but don't actually use the money until after the wedding.

You should deposit them into your account and send a thank you now. Just do not use any of the money till after the big day

Cash them now, don't spend it and send thank you notes.  I hate when I give someone a check and it sits uncashed for weeks or even months.....it throws off my whole checkbook balancing.

You girls are great!  This is exactly what I was thinking...but didn't know if it was acceptable or not. 
I'm the same way with the check book balancing!
