Can I include STD's with E-Party Invites?

Background:
Wedding - 9/2/2012
EParty - Labor Day weekend 2011 (hosted by brother and SIL)

Is it too soon to include STD's in with invitations to those that will be invited to the Eparty (family, WP, close friends)?
The rest I will sent off separately in a few months, or along with the others so no gossip or no hurt feelings towards others who have not received one yet.
Yes, No...thoughts?

  • I would send all of them at once.  I think I'd just wait a couple months on all of them.

J&K, I had a dream last night that your wedding was shown on my hometown news station.

I think you can send them together, but I think it's too early to send anything right now. If the E-party is in September, I would send the invitations in maybe...July?

    Send them all at once.

STDs are usually sent 6-9 months before the wedding.  Sending them too early is asking for trouble, between changes in the people you ultimately want to invite, to more practical stuff (date or location changes, for example).

Oh yea I forgot to add that, I won't be sending anything until late July, early August.
I am designing everything myself, so I was just trying to get a handle on when I need to start making everything.

    HA!  Awesome :)

Yeah, like Mica said, STDs are typically sent at 6-9 months, sometimes earlier for holiday weekends (which yours is) but I would not send them out more than 1 year in advance.  The point of STDs is for people to be able to make arrangements, get off work, etc.  My job would laugh at me if I tried to take off work more than a year in advance.  So all people will do at this point is set them aside, and probably forget about them.

  • I would wait.  People will forget and misplace them.

Also what happens if you need to do a date change?  Never know!

  • I would say it is fine except for ooone thing I need cleared up I think..

Are all the people that will be invited to the e-party, also invited to the wedding?
If not, you could have a couple pissed of peopel at the e-party when they hear from your other friend "omg the save the date you sent  is sooo cute i can't wait for your wedding!"
IF, however, everyone that's going to the e-party will also be invited to the wedding, then I don't see much harm in it, especially if you have a lot of out of town people. Keep in mind though, that it's easy for those things to get lost if they are sent too early for people to start looking at travel plans/accomidations.

This shouldn't happen because everyone who you invite to any pre-wedding parties, including an engagement party, needs to be invited to the wedding itself.
  • I would not include them at this time simply because they're being hosted by different people. I know you mentioned in your post that someone else is hosting, but if I got an e-party invite and an STD in the same envelope, I'd assume you were hosting your own e-party.
