I don't know where else I would post this, so here it goes...
I have no clue how many rooms to block out for guests. We are taking care of arrangements for out of town guests but because of the reception venue's location, we want to offer the convenience of the hotel across the street to all of our guests for the night of.
If I have about 80 parties, should I block off 80 rooms? Or is there a customary percentage? I don't really care about cost, I'm just clueless as to how this part works. I would want to get a room, but is that normal, or do most people want to just go home? I guess I just don't want to waste money if I don't have to, we didn't get where we are by frivolously spending.
I would say that on average, people have a 30-45 minute drive and while no one has to stay till the end, the party keeps going till 1:00a.
Thanks!
