Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Officiant

Hi everyone,I need help finding someone to marry us. We are not getting married at a church so we need to find someone who can perform the ceremony. I keep looking online but everything seems a bity 'cheesy'. if anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate it!thanks

Re: Officiant

  • Are you asking a generic "Who can marry us?" question, or a specific to your area? This is an international board, so we can't really give you specifics like a local LI board can. GL
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Have you considered having a friend or family member get ordained online to perform your ceremony? I believe the "Universal Life Church" is the easiest place to go through for this, but I don't have any personal experience... that is just what I've heard from others. There are lots of officiants that advertise on my local Craigslist, so you might check there. A lot of them are more non-denominational or even non-religious so it may be more what you are looking for.
  • If you have someone ordained, as pp suggested, you'll need to make sure it's legal, as in many states it is not (including the one I live in).  Basically, you just need to post this on your local board for more help than from this International board.

  • I asked the Chaplain at work to officiate, since we do not currently belong to a particular church.
