And I haven't really made any, no contracts or anything, just ideas. But FI just sent me an email with a link to a resort in Mexico. It was forwarded to him from one of his coworkers and the forwarded message was still there and said, "This is where we stayed and got married." I was really starting to like the idea of a DW, but hadn't mentioned it to FI because I honestly thought he'd be adamantly against it. I guess not

I just did this as well.  EVERYTHING except for the colors and the dress.  We're getting married in GA, instead of LA for starters...

Go for it! Sometimes I wish we had a DW, but it was DW for a lot of our guests.

I've seriously thought about tossing all of my plans and just doing the honeymoon/elope package somewhere too.

Seems so easy and fun.

We're emailing back and forth about it right now. Our only concern is getting my FI's granddad to agree to come to Mexico. He raised FI and FI is an only child, so we certainly don't want to alienate him from seeing FI get married. We'll see how it goes. I REALLY want to do this. And am so pleasantly shocked that FI is the one that brought it up.

Since we've just begun even discussing this, we're obviously not set on this place, though it looks gorgeous and we've gotten a good rec from someone who actually got married there. If we do decide to do a DW, we'll be doing our homework.

Yep... I did somethin similar. At least for me, having a total engagement time of 28 months had that effect on me. I'm so glad we scrapped everything, though.

I've been to a Palace Resort (Moon Palace in Cancun) and it was absolutely amazing.  We're actually heading back as a family to another Palace Resort in Dominican next month, because we were so impressed with the one in Mexico!
