Ok, etiquette gurus, please tell me if this is acceptable!
All of our wedding guests will be from OOT (including us!). We're hosting an informal welcome dinner on Friday night (burgers, chicken, salads, beer and wine) and everyone is invited. The wedding is on Saturday.
Can we invite children to the welcome dinner but not the wedding and reception?
We are offering child care services during the wedding and reception (so the kids will be on-site).
Another question -- what is the best way to invite people to the welcome dinner? I'm assuming that it can't be included in the wedding invitation since we're inviting kids to one but not the other. We're having a small wedding so I could wait until people RSVP for the wedding and then call/email the 'yeses' about the welcome dinner.
