So i was wondering if u guys had any good ideas for us to use? the music director is going to play whatever we decide but the only thing we dont want is the traditional march. Thanks for all the help!!

Re: organ/piano music

  • we havent really decided. we can use both if we want to. I just have no idea on any music for either of them!
  • If you need suggestions, you first need to know if your church has any restrictions on what kind of music you can play. Our church only allows church musicians to play the very expensive church organ. If you will make contact with the church musician, they will know what the church guidelines are, and can give you many very good suggestions. After all, they have done lots of weddings, whereas, this is probably your first one, LOL. There is also a list of good ceremony music suggestions under The Knot's planning section.
  • Ask for a meeting with your church music director so that he/she can play examples for you.  I do it all the time at the church I work in.  Then you can hear how the pieces sound on the organ/piano.Having said that, here's a starter list: Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} Suggestions for processional/recessional music   Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring-Bach Air on the G String-Bach Arioso-Bach Sinfonia-Bach Prelude in C Major from the Well Tempered Clavier-Bach Water Music-Handel Trumpet Voluntary, aka Prince of Denmark’s March-Clarke Trumpet Tune-Purcell Canon-Pachelbel Several of the Brandenburg Concertos-Bach Joyful, Joyful-“Finale from Symphony #9-Beethoven Claire de Lune-Debussy Girl with the Flaxen Hair-Debussy Psalm XIX-Marcello Toccata in F Major-Buxtehude Spring from The Four Seasons-Vivaldi Autumn from The Four Seasons-Vivaldi Several of the Brandenburg Concertos-Bach Sheep May Safely Graze-Bach Fur Elise-Beethoven Wedding March~Lohengrin (Here Comes the Bride) Wagner

  • Our Organist gave us a cassette tape of all of our options so we could get an idea of how they sound on our particular Church's organ.

  • If you can use secular music and you just want some beautiful piano, check out Brian Crain and Yirumi music.  You can listen to Brian Crain on his website, and there is Yirumi stuff on YouTube at least.
