Re: Interesting (and strongly worded) article: WDYT?

  • Sarah Palin bores theshit out of me
  • I fear for our country if she even wins the primary in 2010, let alone the presidential election.

[QUOTE]it seems like people hate Palin even more than they hated Bush.  anyone care to list a few reasons (legitimate) why they dont like her?  i read her book and it seems like she did a lot of great things for Alaska and put up with a lot of crap from McCain's campaign folks.

Because it was written by her. Of course it's going to seem that way.
  • I'm not really a fan of Palin but I  disagree with the statement that most people hunt for "enjoyment."  the hunters I know are some of the biggest environmentalists out there and value nature much more than the average person.

I don't hate Palin, I just don't like her.  I think she's an idiotic fame-whore who couldn't stick out one term as governor.  But I still thought the Sorkin article was blind, liberal, hypocritical hatred.
  • Although I'm not into politics (forgive me) I am however into animals. I'm a PETA rep, vegetarian, and SANE animals right's activist (not a psycho one who threatens people and destroys property). I also live in Arkansas, where hunting is a major "sport" ((If it were a sport, both sides of the team would know they were playing)) and the majority of people I know who hunt aren't really concerned with the environment at all,  but just like the taste of meat. They use the population as reason to justify why they do it, and that's fine with me.

I do know that I've seen where you probably get your meat from. I've seen where your chickens, cows, fish, and pigs live before they're slaughtered. The majority of their lives are lived in complete and utter filth. They've never seen sunshine, never felt a breeze, drank clean water, or eaten fresh grass. They're force-fed, some have their legs broken for more tender meat, and are killed within weeks of birth after being injected with multiple hormones and steroids.

If I had to choose where people got their meat I'd definitely prefer people go out and hunt themselves. These wild animals felt the warmth of the sun, grazed with their families, and had the best lives possible. If you go to your supermarket, the meat you buy probably was raised in the most inhumane of ways.

I'm a little late to this. I do think that poor animal died for the sake of publicity and that makes me sick.

I'm  surprised at how many people don't think others hunt because they enjoy it. Of course they enjoy it or else they wouldn't do it. A lot of time and money goes into buying hunting gear, buying traps/guns, driving out into the wilderness and just waiting for prey. I can assure you people wouldn't put this much energy into something they weren't fond of.
