Menu for Buffet Dinner??

I'm having a buffet dinner at my wedding. Are menu cards really needed?? If so should I still put one on everyones place setting or just one or two per table to give the guests an idea of what they will eat??

Re: Menu for Buffet Dinner??

  • Not necessary, but it's nice to let people know what they're digging into. If you're trying to cut costs or save paper, you could always make a large menu card to put at the start of the buffet line, or a small card identifying each item.
  • As a person who can not eat anything unless I know what it is or what is in it, I think you should have some sort of identification.  Check with your venue also, they may already have little cards that they can put in front.  Otherwise, as PP suggested, one larger one up by the buffet, or one per table would be sufficient.

  • This was one of the things that I planned to do but towards the end just said meh, forget it.  Luckily, my venue marked everything.  People suggest doing it so everyone willl know what to look forward to ahead of time but it's not critical if you don't do it.  I was going to do one for each table.
  • We are doing them as table tents as one for each table, probably with table number on one side and menu on the other. I really just wanted to make sure the vegetarians know that there is pork in the green beens. And the cake flavors.

I also agree with opal's suggestions to save even more paper.
