Small Wedding & Invitations

We are having a small wedding.  I want to be able to announce our engagement and wedding to family and friends who won't be invited to the wedding.  What is the best way to do this?

    Send out an announcement after the wedding to those who weren't invited.

    I was planning to make some announcements to those that weren't invited.  I am aunts and grandmas that we're close with, but only immediate family is invited to the wedding.  These would go out after the wedding (and hopfully use some awesome photos from my photographer).

    Shutterfly has some very cute wedding announcements.

    I did not announce the engagement formally.  Usually people don't mail anything out for engagements.

    Definitely send them out after the fact, and only to announce your marriage.

    To me, announcing an engagement might come across as asking your family/friends to save the date for the wedding.
