Return Address Question

FI & I currently do not live together and we are all contributing financially to the wedding (my family + his family)..

How could we word the return address with both of our names (without it seeming as though we live together)? Can we just put My Last Name/His Last Name Wedding?

I apologize in advance if this seems completely dumb - I realize I'm probably completely overthinking this. Cool

Re: Return Address Question

  • I'm not putting our names on the return address, even though we live together.

You can do lastname-lastname wedding. You could do just your name. Doesn't matter. But the return address is traditionally where you want your gifts to be shipped. ;-)

  • You can put anything you want.  Smith-Jones Wedding will work, but seems impersonal.  I got one the other day that didn't have a name on the return addy, just an address.  I don't remember the RSVP address.

    We put:
    Squirrly & FI
    Address
    City, State Zip

    But, we also live together.

Dresses may be easier to take in than let out, but guest lists are not. -- kate51485
  • I put my maiden name and address on the envelopes. It was just the easiest route for us.
  • I just did it under my name. It's not uncommon for mailouts prior to the wedding to be done in the bride's name.
  • Put the address (and corresponding name) that you want the responses sent to.

If you are the one who is keeping track of the guest list, then put your name and address.  If FI is doing the guest list duties, put his name and address.

But I do understand where you are coming from.  Back when it was not socially acceptable to live together before marriage, the bride or the bride's parents usually sent the invitations and received the responses.
