Should we tell them?

Two of our best friends, who are also good friends with each other, booked their weddings on the same day without consulting each other.

Friend 1 called "dibs" on the date about five months ago, but I think friend 2 forgot and booked his party last week (friend 2 eloped over the summer, and his parents had a small BBQ for him after the fact.  His party is a more of a reception than a wedding).

So I'm wondering...should we say something to them, or let them find out themselves?  I'm kind of struggling with the right way to put it without sounding weird..."FYI you guys scheduled your weddings on the same day!"

  • Huh. As soon as I found out I would have been all, "Huh! Thats the same day as couple one!" without really even thinking about it.

  • Are you sure they don't already know?

If you said anything to anyone, I would say it to friend 2.  Something like "hey, did you realize that's the same day friend 1 is getting married?" since friend 2 is really already married and already had a reception too.

  • Oh, sorry...we actually didn't figure it out until the next day.  FI was going to text them right away, but then thought maybe we should think about it before we meddle.  Both guys are VERY all about their weddings.  Like...Bridewars style.

Dani- I like the way you worded that...we're seeing friend 2 this week, so maybe I'll bring it up casually.

  • Definitely would tell couple two.  What are the chances!  :)
  • I'd definitely tell couple 2.

Particularly since I think it can lead to a TON of hurt feelings since couple 1 isn't actually married but couple 2 is.
