RD invite advice?

So we're inviting all of our OOT family, bridal party and their dates to the RD.  My question is about the vendors that will be at the rehearsal, do we invite them to the RD?

I plan to invite the OOT vendors that will be at the rehearsal but our photographer is local.  Should I extend the invitation to him and his wife(she will not be at the rehearsal)?  Input?

You're having a photographer at your rehearsal?

We didn't invite any vendors, except our wedding coordinator. She declined our invitation. It's not necessary to invite paid vendors.

    That's what I was thinking.

I could understand if you were having your ceremony musicians and officiant at the rehearsal but other then that vendors don't really need to be there.  And even the ceremony musicians is a stretch becasue many of them just need to know how many people will be walking down the aisle and they can adjust accordingly.

I would invite your officiant but really that is about it.

I think she means that all the other vendors will already be there from out of town, so she's inviting them to the RD out of courtesy, but her photographer is local, so should she invite him to the RD? Edit: I think I'm wrong since she said the photographers wife won't be at the rehersal (implying the photographer will be). So I'm confused now too.

Yea, I thought it was strange that the photographer was coming, too.  Our day-of coordinator called all of the vendors to find out who needs to be at the rehearsal and apparently he wants to be there.  I don't know but I know those two are in cahoots trying to make this wedding amazing.  Maybe he just wants to meet her...not sure.  In addition to the photographer, the officiant, day-of coordinator and one of the musicians will be there.

The officiant will obviously be invited but he and the musician are family friends. The musician was my band teacher for 6 years and is playing for free, as a wedding gift to us.

The day-of coordinator and her assistant will obviously be there to run things and tell people where to go. I would like to extend the invitation to them because they've bent over backwards getting this together.    The coordinator has friends in the area that she's staying with so she may choose to hang out with them instead.  Not sure but I figured it would be the nice thing to do.

I will probably leave the photographer off.  I agree with you ladies, I wasn't expecting him to be there.
  • But the vendors are being paid to be there for the wedding, thus inviting them to the RD whether OOT or not just seems weird and very unncessary.  That is my opinion anyways.

The photographer and his wife are local.  The photographer will be at the rehearsal but his wife does not assist him or anything.  I assume she will be at home.  I was thinking it would be weird to invite him to the dinner but not his wife.  Hope that clears it up?

The other vendors I listed above will already be in town to be there for the rehearsal and the wedding itself.

As far as I'm aware, he's not taking photos.  We signed a contract saying he would just work the wedding.  I'm thinking he just wants to be sure of the layout of everything.  Who knows.  I will check with my coordinator.

Ok this clears things up.  Definitely invite the musician.  Especially because he really isn't a vendor but more of a guest participating in your ceremony.

  • Dont invite any of your vendors to the rehersal dinner unless they are also friends you would want there. You "thank" vendors by paying them, and giving them glowing referrals, if appropriate.
  • Just heard back from the coordinator, the photographer will NOT be at the rehearsal.
