Tricky Invitation Question

One of FI's friends is divorced, but still living with and in a relationship with her ex-husband. What is they best way to list them on the invite?

Jane and John Smith
(To me, this seems to imply that they're still married, but maybe I'm wrong.)

Jane Smith and John Smith

or maybe another way that I'm not thinking of at the moment?

TIA

Re: Tricky Invitation Question

  • I'd list them as:

    Ms. Jane Smith
    Mr. John Smith

No ands between names, and put them on separate lines.
  • I agree with Jen. Listing them with any kind of "and" (John and Jane Smith or John Smith and Jane Smith) would imply that they are still married. Address it like you would any other unmarried couple who live together.

  • On second thought (while re-reading my post), I also see no issue with John Smith and Jane Smith. If they were never married, you'd address it that way. They just happen to have the same last name now.
