I'm a humper failure <--morning thread

Happy Hump Day.  :(  Sleepy and cold today.  My pants keep falling down already.  It's gonna be a long day.

How is everyone?

  • Pants on the ground, pants on the ground. Lookin like a fool with your pants on the ground! My work computer is missing so im hoping to work from home today!

  • Morning.

Stacks - I guess that means you are doing well with losing weight

I am actually up today. I am going to the zoo with a friend and her kids. H just left, so I told him to get my up. They are turning the water off in our apt from 9-10am today, so I must have my coffee and breakfast before they do all that and I leave.
  • Good morning. I have an exam this morning and a lot of homework to do before 2. I'd rather stay in bed.
  • You would think it was weight related, but no.  These pants just suck and have no belt loops.  I woke up at 5:55 today and I leave my house at 6:15 typically.  So I was in a rush to pack lunches, pack up J, do my hair, get dressed.  So I grabbed the first pants I saw w/o much internal debate.

I did manage to leave the house by 6:18.  :)
  • LVB - how did your computer go missing?  Is it a laptop?
  • Damn, that has to be record timing for all that Stacks. There is no way in hell I could move that fast that early if I didn't have some coffee in me.
  • LTB - did you get a raise or promotion with all that? That sure sounds like a lot to take on, esp since you are in school, too.
  • Yeah it was a laptop hooked up to a dock that made it show up on a regular monitor.

  • Good morning!

I was so happy to see the sun finally out today, I didn't check the temperature before biking out to work.  Holy hell it was cold out.  My hands are all tingly now from warming up.

I am so glad we're midway through the week.  H and I are going over to our old place to do a little more packing and bring some more things over.  I'm  hoping to get my bookshelf over to the new place so I can repaint it with some of the leftover white paint from doing our kitchen.  Then Saturday, we're finally having the big move, and we get all our furniture, which will be nice.  The apartment seems so empty right now.

  • LTB - That makes sense. Now I remember you getting the raise and them paying for your classes. That is awesome that you make decent money compared to other places. You definitely did your homework.

Well, as far as doing the corporate's payroll, I guess they can't have it both ways. Either they let you do it or have someone else do it. But it sounds like they really want you to do it.
  • Hmm. I am here.

I took b-bo (which is what FI's little sister called FI when he was growing up.. I think its adorable) out for dinner last night to celebrate the fact that his official federal employee start date is next MONDAY. I took him to this cheap mexican place so we were nomming on chips and dip when in walks in my ex-bff and her bf whom there is a lot of bad blood between FI and him. They walked by us, my back was to them so I didn't even see them at first, and then she was like "OMG Its so good to see you! *it wasn't* How are you guys doing *not that I care*" So we did the small talk thing, except her BF actually HID behind her and did not say hi, until she moved too quickly to the side which exposed him to us so he had to say hi. It was pathetic. What kind of man can't even say hi?

anywhoooo that made me laugh. Then I went back to nomming my chips and dip.

  • Rosie - that is pretty lame. Seriously? Grow up and get over yourself.

Speaking of running into ex girlfriends and what not, I am so nosy that I still read the wedding announcements online for both of my old high schools. Yesterday I came across this girl who I used to be really close with who is now in her residency to become a doctor. I couldn't believe it. Never in a million years would I have thought she had the brains to become a doctor. It was my wow moment of the day yesterday.
  • Morning all. Post and run here. We are on vacation on the SE Ga coast, headed out to St. Augustine today. Started off vacation with a bang - younger daughter went wading into the pluff mud without her shoes on. Toe meet oyster shell. 3 x-rays, 4 stitches, and 2 different types of antibiotics later, she's hobbling a bit.
  • Okay I'm going to hibernate until then.

  • Oh goodness, Sarah. I have heard all kinds of stories about oyster shells on the beach down here. It sounds like she isn't letting it ruin your vacation. I LOVE St. Augustine, it is such a beautiful and historic city. Have fun!
  • I want more chips and dip :( I could eat salsa at any moment of any day.

  • Awww, Sarah :(  I hope she's feeling better.  That sucks.

Rosie, wtf?  That's ridiculous that he couldn't even say hi like an adult.

  • I'm so excited that I got a livingsocial coupon where you spend $49 for $125 worth of hair services at a salon around here. Now I can finally dye my hair without having to worry about box color or how much it will cost. Yay! no more roots!

Rosie, is your FI worried about the government shutdown?  We still have basically no information here on what we should do if it were to happen.  I imagine it would be even harder for him to figure out what to do if there's a shutdown on his first day!  Will he be working on base at APG?

I think they are all worried, but there is nothing they can do. In terms of information of what you should do, this might provide you with some answers
    <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/federal-eye/post/government-shutdown-how-it-will-impact-federal-pay-and-benefits/2011/04/05/AFPNXklC_blog.html">http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/federal-eye/post/government-shutdown-how-it-will-impact-federal-pay-and-benefits/2011/04/05/AFPNXklC_blog.html</a>

Hopefully the shutdown won't happen and this wont be an issue. He will actually be at edgewood, not APG but he does a lot of work at APG so he is there for meetings quite a bit.

  • FWIW, I don't think it will shut down.

  • I don't think it will either. At least I am really really really hoping it doesn't shut down.

  • Hey all.   Just doing some laundry while waiting for BB to wake up.  She slept hard last night.  Went to bed at 7 and didn't wake up for milk until 5 and then went right back down.  It's 8:30 and she hasn't made a peep.  She was running a fever yesterday, probably due to two more teeth working through, and just needed some extra sleep, I suppose.

  • I love new car smell in the morning. Just picked up my sweet new ride last night and all I want to do is go for a drive today.

Also, my neck and back totally hurt and I'm going to have to call my doc today about a referral to physical therapy. I thought I was going to get out of it, but alas, you all were right.

I don't think the government will shut down either. Somebody will give and this whole game of chicken will be over. They'll just wait til the last minute to do it.

  • Good morning!  It's cold here today...not cool, Florida.  Don't you know it's April?!

Fezz it's almost like Friday for me, if that helps.  This is my last full day of work for the week!  1/2 day tomorrow, and then begins the wedding prep craziness.
